Manandhar's abstract paintings are a reflection of our surroundings and the minute details we tend to overlook in our daily lives. Inspired for this project by his experiences and observations of things around him, his work portrays his belief that each species is undergoing the process of 'construction.'
"My paintings are a metaphorical representation of the species that are constantly under construction. The world itself is under construction,"
he says.
Manandhar took on this project as a challenge by trying a series of different mediums to portray his thoughts. He has played with all mediums of colors ranging from Acrylic to Mixed Media on platforms ranging from plywood and acrylic canvas to wooden sculptures. The use of traditional Nepali techniques of painting can be seen in some of his works.
Currently a professor at Kathmandu University, Manandhar is an optimistic painter who still believes there is room for growth and many more mediums to lay hands on.
Manandhar's abstract ideas are on display till August 12, from 11 AM to 5 PM every day.
