Sand mine victims' families to get compensation

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 30: Bhaktapur District Administration Office has decided to provide Rs 525,000 to the family of those people who were buried to death after sand mine collapsed in Duwakot, Bhaktapur on Wednesday morning.[break]



In a discussion held this morning at the DAO between the mine proprietor, victims´ family and administration, the agreement was made on providing Rs 525,000 as a compensation and additional Rs 50,000 for the expenses of 13 days rituals after death.



Deceased families had demanded one million rupees. The victims´ family would get Rs 50,000 Friday and remaining amount within 35 days.



Krishna Prasad Phyual, Rohit Ghimire, Daba Sherpa, Chanchali Maya Thing and Phurba Tamang of were buried to death after the sand mine caved in.



Chief District Officer Dipak Raj Nepal informed that the mine proprietor agreed on to manage treatment to the injured. Ram Bahadur Lama and Devi Maya Lama of Shikharpur, Kavre, and Asmita Lama of Nagarkot, Bhaktapur were injured in the accident.



After the agreement for compensation, deceased families have accepted to receive the dead bodies.
