Gurukul, KFA, Sunflower triumph in girls´ football
KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Hosts Gurukul, Kathmandu Football Academy (KFA) and Sunflower won their respective league round matches on Monday in the ongoing Gurukul Girls´ Football Cup -- inter school girls´ football tournament -- being held at Goldhunga football ground.
Gurukul defeated NRHSS 2-0 to record their second consecutive win. Binita Tamang and Unisha Shahi scored one goal each for the hosts. Binita won the woman-of-the-match award.
Similarly, Kathmandu Football Academy beat Societal 3-2. Laxmi Lama and Elina Shahi scored one each for the winning side while another came as an own goal from Societal. Chhaya Kathayat scored both the goals for Societal. Sarita Lama of the winning team received the woman-of-the-match award.
Likewise, Sunflower edged past Children Herald 3-1. Mina Nagarkoti struck a brace and Rozi Nagarkoti added another for Sunflower. Rashu Thapa netted the consolation for Children. Sarita Lama of Sunflower was adjudged woman-of-the-match.
St Joseph played a 1-1 draw with Mansingh Dharma. Malati Tamang of St Joseph was declared the woman-of-the-match.
SEB Volleyball from Nov 27
KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Samakhusi English School announced the Fifth SEB Inter-school Running Shield Volleyball Tournament from Nov 27 to Nov 30.
At a press conference on Monday, the school informed that 12 teams each will participate in girls´ and boys´ categories. The tournament will be played in league-cum-knock-out format. The group-stage matches will be held in best-of-three format while the knock-out matches will be held in best-of-five format.
Venus School are the defending champions in boys´ category whereas New Diamond School are the defending champions in the girls´ category.
