KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Office-bearers of the Sajha Publications (SP) have urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to save the state-owned entity from further bankruptcy.

In a meeting with PM Oli at his official residence at Baluwatar, SP General Manager Dolendra Prasad Sharma apprised Oli of the Publication's economic problems and its future plans to improve its condition. He also informed PM Oli about the publications failure to provide salary to its employees for the past six months.

In response, the Prime Minister said that a meeting of concerned sector and persons would be held soon to sort out the problems facing the SP. “Sajha Prakashan is country’s historic institution and I am ready to resolve its problems if you (SP staffers) are ready to work to that end,” he said.

Former Education Minister and member of SP board of directors Pradip Nepal, Janak Siksha Samagri Kendra Managing Director Anil Kumar Jha and Prof Krishna Hari Baral were also present in the meeting.

The SP has been facing backlash for alleged involvement of its staffers in misappropriation of money, while it has failed to hold its general meeting for the past eight years.

The SP under the Ministry of Education has been asking the government for Rs 200 million loan with easy access to run the office smoothly. RSS
