KATHMANDU, March 10 : Bijeswori Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu on Thursday felicitated its two former students Nabita Shrestha and Elina Maharjan with cash prize of Rs 50,000 each for winning bronze medals in the 12th South Asian Games.
Nabita and Elina won bronze medal in women’s doubles event of table tennis in the SAG held in India in February.
Organizing a program in Kathmandu, the school feted Nabita and Elina, who had studied from nursery to grade 10 at the same school.
Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha handed over the amount to the players.
After being felicitated by the school, both Nabita and Elina were thankful to the school for providing favorable environment for the game during their school days.
“I am happy for bagging bronze medal in the SAG and our performance in the event was also good,” said Nabita, who had also represented Nepal in the 11th SAG held in Bangladesh.
“I will try even better in the coming days as my recent experience of the World Championship held in Malaysia was an eye opener,” added Nabita.
