During a program organized in Kathmandu on Sunday, NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista handed over Rs 2,500 to SAG gold medalists and also declared the the amount would be provided each month for their contribution to the games.Altogether 103 players have won gold medals till the 11th edition of SAG while the 12th edition is slated to be held in Assam and Guwahati of India on February 5-16. Most SAG gold medalists are in foreign countries.
"We have started to provide incentives to the players to honor their contribution to their field of sports," said Bista. "We have allocated the amount by adjusting the budget allocated for other works."
He also said that the NSC launched the program to inspire the players who are set to take part in the 12th South Asian Games.
Meanwhile, Bista informed that the players who are eligible for the allowance but living in foreign land will get the amount only if they turned up at the NSC office to collect the amount every month.
Similarly, he informed that the gold, silver and bronze medalists of the 12th SAG will get Rs 500,000, Rs 400,000 and Rs 300,000, respectively, while Rs 200,000, Rs 150,000 and Rs 100,000 will be provided to the players in case of team games.
Senior coaches assisting the players who win gold, silver and bronze medals will get Rs 300,000, Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000, respectively, while assistant coaches will get Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000.
Likewise, the associations will receive Rs 500,000, Rs 300,000 and Rs 200,000.
