Joshi, an expert on drinking water management, was replaced by Timila Yami, sister-in-law of Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, on December 7. [break]
Joshi was selected to lead KULK 20 months ago through free competition, beating Yami and other contenders for the post. But a recent meeting of shareholders concluded that his selection was done without following due procedures.
"I have been sacked in unfairly. So the court is the only place for me to go for redress," he said, adding, "I have become a victim of politics."
As per the Company Act, no company can sack its chairman before the end of his/her four-year tenure.
Employees at KUKL also have alleged that Timila was appointed to the post just because she is a close relative of the prime minister.
They said the decision was taken under pressure from Hisila Yami, Timila´s sister. The former oversees the Ministry of Urban Development, a portfolio held by the prime minister himself.
