SAARC members to promote handicrafts through cooperation

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Handicrafts producers of SAARC countries except Afghanistan have agreed on Thursday to promote intra-regional trade of handicrafts through enhanced mutual cooperation.



Representatives from respective handicrafts association of SAARC member countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the last day of 4th SAARC Business Leaders Conclave. [break]



Pushkar Man Shakya, immediate past president of Federation of Handicrafts Association of Nepal (FHAN) signed the deal on behalf of Nepali handicrafts producers.



In the MoU, all the parties who signed the pact have agreed to maintain close and regular contacts to enhance cooperation among themselves and boost handicrafts trade at regional level.



They also agreed to share handicraft related information, provide services in cooperation and exchange other economic and business related information among each other.



Besides, they are also unanimous on the need to promote mutual assistance for strengthening general understanding of the market and investment and organize trade fairs in the member countries regularly.
