RPP chief Lingden not to take part in rally

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) President Rajendra Lingden will not participate in the welcome rally for former King Gyanendra Shah's return from Pokhara to Kathmandu. The party has assigned the responsibility to Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi and Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha.

KATHMANDU, March 9: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) President Rajendra Lingden will not participate in the welcome rally for former King Gyanendra Shah's return from Pokhara to Kathmandu. The party has assigned the responsibility to Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi and Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha.


Shahi said that he has not received any information regarding the RPP President's attendance.

Royalist supporters will gather in the Gaushala and Tinkune areas and proceed towards the main gate of the airport at Sinamangal to welcome former King Shah. From there, the rally will continue to Nirmal Niwas along with Former King Shah.


After a week-long stay in Pokhara, former King Shah will return to Kathmandu this afternoon. Political parties and organizations, including the RPP and RPP-Nepal, have made preparations for rallies and demonstrations in various locations in Kathmandu to welcome him.


In response, security arrangements in Kathmandu have been tightened to prevent the crowd from becoming unruly and to prevent unwanted activities. Security personnel have also been placed on high alert.
