KATHMANDU, March 22: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka stated that the country can achieve revolutionary prosperity through the proper use of water. He shared this view at an event in Kathmandu on Saturday.


He emphasized the importance of focusing on the proper use of water, highlighting that it is not only essential for daily life but also a key driver of economic prosperity. He added that the government is working to make the country prosperous and create employment through the use of water.

He called water resources the backbone of Nepal's culture, civilization, and economic development. He said that climate change has altered the global water cycle, and the shrinking glaciers have increased the risk of glacial lake outbursts.


He stated, "Focusing on the proper use of water is essential today. Water is a resource that is not only useful for daily life but also plays a crucial role in the country's economic prosperity. Specifically, for Nepal, we are working towards achieving revolutionary economic prosperity and creating employment through the use of water."


He also pointed out that unseasonal rainfall has significantly impacted the agriculture sector, posing serious challenges for water resource management and future water security. He stressed that the state must formulate necessary plans for a water resource strategy.
