KATHMANDU, July 31: Veteran athlete Ram Krishna Maharjan is set to run in the marathon during the World Masters Athletics Outdoor Championship scheduled for August 4-16 in France.
Fifty-six-year old Ram Krishan will leave for France on Sunday and compete in 55-60 years age category during the last day of the event. Ram Krishna will be participating in the event on his own expenses.

During a farewell program organized in Kathmandu on Friday, Ram Krishna informed that around Rs 500,000 will be spent to participate in the event. Meanwhile, Baikuntha Manandhar, South Asian record holder marathoner, who also trains Ram Krishna said the latter has made sound preparations for the event and wished for his success.
Similarly, former athletics chief coach Madhu SJB Rana, who is also the first athletics coach of Nepal, said that athletes can attain success only after hard trainings.
Meanwhile, athletics players felicitated coach Rana during the same function on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Ram Krishna has participated in numerous prestigious international marathons over the past decade. He is the winner of Sydney Marathon in 2012.
