Quake damages houses of over 50 journos in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR, May 20: A journalist had to lose his spouse and the eldest mother while houses of over 50 journalists suffered damages in Bhaktapur due to April 25 devastating earthquake and subsequent recurring aftershocks.

The quake has taken the life of Kalpana Thapa, spouse of Majdoor Daily Editor and FNJ, Bhaktapur's founder member Saroj Raj Prasain.


Similarly, the natural disaster has completely damaged the house of FNJ District Chairperson Amar Bhuju, store house and shed of Vice-chairperson Som Sharma Bajgain, said FNJ Bhaktapur Secretary Jagat Krishna Prajapati.

Similarly, the Nagarkot-based restaurant and shed of FNJ Bhaktapur's joint-secretary Deepak Lamichhane and houses of FNJ Treasurer Roshan Shilpakar, working committee member Laxmi Garu, Sundar Shilpakar, Mohan Balla, Jitendra Shrestha, Ratna Krishna Shrestha and Kiran Budhathoki, among others, have been devastated in the quake, Prajapati shared.

The residential houses of many other journalists suffered partial damages in Bhaktapur.

The FNJ, Bhaktapur Chapter has distributed tent and tarp sheets to the quake-affected journalists in coordination with different agencies, Prajapati further informed. RSS
