KATHMANDU, March 2: A public holiday has been declared today across Province 1 to commemorate the success of renaming the province as Koshi Province.
The provincial Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law said that a public holiday has been announced and all government offices, public institutions, and educational institutions across the province are closed today.

A meeting of the provincial cabinet held on Wednesday decided to announce a public holiday today. The proposal to rename the province as Koshi Province was endorsed by a two-thirds majority in the provincial assembly on Wednesday.
There were 82 votes in favor and four votes against the proposal to name the province as Koshi Province.
