KATHMANDU, Sept 11: An electrical short circuit led to fire at in a six storey house belonging to Suman Man Sthapit at around 4 AM today. The fire was caused by a short circuit in the water pumping machine, according to Metropolitan Police Branch, Durbarmarg.

According to DSP Dan Bahadur Malla, the fire started from second floor. The fire spread quickly after oxygen filled cylinders burst. Two adjacent houses were also enflamed while doors and windows of houses within the 100 meter radius were broken.
"The fire is now controlled," Malla said adding that the damage was expected to be around Rs. 100 million.
