Pramila sets national record in 400 m

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Pramila Rijal Chaudhary set a national record in the 400m on Tuesday during the first phase qualifying athletics for upcoming 11th South Asian Games. [break]



The Armed Police Force (APF) athlete bettered her own record covering the distance in 59.19sec. Earlier, she had set the record in the Fifth National Games with 59.60sec.







Sabitri Nepali of the Nepal Police and Manisha Adhikari of Pokhara finished the race in second and third position respectively in the event organized by Nepal Amateur Athletics Association at the Dashrath Stadium.



Rijal finished the day on high note winning the 100m with the timing of 12.60sec. Keshari Chaudhary of Nepal Police and Ramila Chaudhary of Mid-western Region finished behind her.



Nepal Army (NA) dominated the show in men´s 1500m category as they claimed top three spots. Hari Rimal (3.58 min), Later Singh Khatri and Raj Kumar Bista secured the positions respectively.







In women´s, Surya Maya Rai of the APF finished the race in 5:1:85min and her teammate Gita Khatri finished second. Bimala Bhandari of Salyan came in the third position.



Ujir Singh Bista of Nepal Police threw 12.75m to claim the men´s shotput title ahead of Bal Bahadur Gurung of NA amd Tekendra Raj Pathak of Western Region.



In men´s 100m, Tilak Ram Mahato of Central Region finished the race in 10.75sec while Baliram Chaudhary of Birgunj and Tikaram Chaudhary of NA secured second and third position respectively.



Dhirendra Jung Shah of NA hauled 59.86 meters in men´s javelin throw to finish ahead of Narendra Jang Hass and Aakash Chaudhary.



In men´s 10,000m, Jeet Bahadur Dhami of NA emerged victorious with a timing of 32:19:53 min. Bhumi Raj Rai of the Police and Letar Singh Khatri of NA secured the second and third places respectively.



In women´s category, Brinda Shrestha completed the distance in 41:6:8 min to secure the first position while Shakuntala Budhathoki while Chandra Kala Chaudhary of the People´s Liberation Army (PLA) secured the third position.



In men´s triple jump, Dhruba Narayan Urau of Police made a 13.87m jump for the gold while Dilli Satri of Army and Yagya Sajan Sunwar finished second and third.



Keshari made up for her loss in 100m with a gold in women´s triple jump crossing 10.87m. Dil Maya Karki and Santu Kumal Chaudhary of Mid-western Region secured second and third place respectively.



In men´s 110m hurdles, Santosh Shrestha of the APF finished ahead of Dhirendra Chaudhary of Police and Shovakanta Jammarkattel.



In women´s 100m hurdles, Arati Pandey clocked 18:83sec to secure first position while Sunita Tamang of the APF and Santu Chaudhary of Mid-western Region followed her.







Motilal Chaudhary of NA secure first position in men´s staple chase finishing it in 10:09 min. His teammate Hari Rimal and Gagan Singh Budha secured second and third position respectively.



In men´s 500m, Siddhanta Adhikari of Pokhara completed the distance in 51.68 sec to secure the first position. Suman Bhattaria and Santosh Shrestha of APF fisnished second and third respectively.
