LAMJUNG, Dec 17: The energy production of Mid Marsyangdi Hydropower has fallen down with the receding water level in the Marsyangdi River.

The hydropower with the capacity of generating 70 MW electricity is now producing 48 MW electricity a day.

Chief of the Hydropower Project Pavan Basnet informed, "Until a month ago, huge amounts of water would go to waste. But it has declined now with the onset of winter season, thereby reducing energy production. This will continue for the next two months."

The power generation may decline as low as 26 MW. There are two turbines each with the capacity to run 35 MW electricity.

The construction of the hydropower had begun in 2000 and completed in 2008. It was constructed at the cost of Rs 27.20 billion.

In addition to this hydropower, other hydropower projects in the district are also witnessing sharp decline in the power production as a result of receding water level.
