LAMJUNG, Dec 21: CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that consensus forging efforts remained elusive because of obstacle by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai.

Though the three political parties inched close to consensus to settle all the problems through package deal after long efforts, the Prime Minister presented himself as an obstacle, said Leader Nepal.[break]

Nepal, who arrived here in course of inaugurating the seventh district convention of the CPN-UML, Lamjung on Friday, said this at a press conference organized by Press Chautari, Lamjung.

The parties had agreed upon various issues including holding of new election on coming April-May, keeping 240 electoral constituencies, ensuring proportional representation, making efforts to build consensus on remaining contentious issues on constitution making and President to remove hurdles but the Prime Minister became a problem, he further said.

The consensus has suffered due to Prime Minister´s greed for power and tendency to hold post, Nepal commented, adding that, ´Those abusing state power are hurdles for giving outlet to the country´.

Earlier, leader Nepal on Thursday held a meeting with CPN-UML cadres at Sundar Bazaar of Lamjung.
