KATHMANDU, May 24: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's plan to step down from the government to pave ways to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to become new prime minister is still yet limbo as the main opposition CPN-UML said that it would obstruct parliament meeting citing controversial government decision to increase 22 local units in various Tarai districts.

Prime Minister Dahal and NC President Deuba are holding a meeting with second rung leaders of the main opposition at the Parliament building in New Baneshwar. However, UML chair KP Sharma Oli has not arrived in the meeting until 12:30. Prime Minister Dahal was all set to address the House meeting on Tuesday and announce his resignation from the same House rostrum. However, he couldn't address the parliament as the UML decided to protest against the government decision to increase the number of local units. The prime minister at the cabinet meeting on Tuesday had briefed all the ministers about his plan to announce his resignation in parliament.

As the meeting between three parties is yet to find a solution, the House meeting scheduled for today (Wednesday) is yet to begin though it was initially scheduled for 11 am.

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav reached the Parliament building and held a brief meeting with Prime Minister Dahal and NC President Deuba amidst the meeting between three major parties.
