KATHMANDU, Aug 1: Returning from a visit to Real Madrid in mid-July, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that Nepal aims to produce footballers even better than global icons like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 'FIFA Football for Schools' program organized by ANFA at the Dasharath Stadium on Thursday, PM Oli told young children in attendance that Nepal is not just aspiring to match the level of football legends like Pelé, Messi, Ronaldo, or Mbappé—but to surpass them.

To achieve this, the PM said the government is accelerating the development of sports infrastructure across the country and will ensure that no region lacks stadiums or playing fields.
“We are soon going to build a stadium in Bhaktapur with a capacity of 50,000 spectators,” he announced. “By the time you grow up and become players, the stadium will be ready.”
