KATHMANDU, May 6: The Prime Minister’s press advisor has dismissed Tribhuvan University’s claim that the senate meeting was canceled due to PM’s poor health condition.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tirtha Khaniya said that they had gone to PM’s residence at Baluwatar yesterday to remind him about today’s program. However, according to Khaniya, they couldn’t meet the PM as he was sick.  In turn, on behalf of the PM, the Minister of Education, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel had urged Khaniya to postpone the meeting.

However, Kundan Aryal accused the TU of twisting matters. “He attended two programs yesterday and is busy with other programs today as well,” Aryal said. “PM Oli canceled the program as TU wasn’t clear with its agenda.”

The team was later asked to postpone the meeting by the Education Minister on behalf of the Prime Minister.

One of the agendas of today’s senate meeting was to amend and repeal old rules. Other issues included addressing demands of TU teachers, employees and students and public procurement provisions.
