The patients chanted slogans and demonstrated in front of the hospital gates, saying it was a blatant violation of human rights and the right to life after health services were denied with the closure of the hospitals.(break)
Moreover, they took out a protest rally starting from the Chitwan Cancer Hospital to the Chitwan district administration exerting pressure on the local authorities to take steps to reopen the hospitals soon.
Begam Khatun, one among those in rally, said they were bound to rally against the doctors because they have acted carelessly.
The doctors have closed down all services except emergency in the medical institutes here in protest against the rising spate of attacks and threats against medical practitioners.
Meanwhile, the doctors today submitted a memorandum to the local administration, demanding their security and implementation of the doctors´ security act, said Dr Bhojraj Adhikari of Bharapur Hospital.
Chief District Officer in Chitwan HimNath Dawadi said the administration was serious about the demands of both patients and doctors, and efforts were on to address the problems.
