Parliamentary team arrives in Laprak to study on rotten rice distributed by WFP

GORKHA, June 21: Three- member parliamentary probe team has reached Laprak, one of the VDC of the district which was devastated by April 25 earthquake, to inspect the rice distributed by World Food Program (WFP).

The  team led by lawmaker Bhanubhakta Dhakal had arrived at the district headquarters on Saturday and has reached Laprak VDC this morning.

Lawmakers Usha Gurung and Dalbir Sherpaili are the other members of the team.

Earlier, the Special Committee for Disaster Risk Reduction had decided to send a probe team to know how the rice supplied to earthquake victims by WFP in Laprak.

The team had discussed about the conditions of the rice and dispatching procedures by WFP with the locals. The team also gathered feedbacks from the locals and inquired about the rice with the distributors.

Prior to leaving for Laprak, the parliamentary probe team had held discussion with the district level politicians about the rice provided by WFP.

Local politicians had expressed their serious dissatisfaction on the issue.

Poor road infrastructure and continuous rainfall had interrupted the parliamentary team to carry out their works in time.

Lawmakers have vowed to raise the issue during the parliament session.
