KATHMANDU, May 19: The parliamentary hearing of Supreme Court (SC) Justice Dr Manoj Sharma, who has been proposed for appointment as Chief Justice, has been completed.
The hearing under the Federal Parliament’s Hearing Committee concluded after a detailed question-and-answer session focused on Sharma’s professional record, his proposed action plan and complaints filed against him.

Lawmakers questioned him on a range of issues, including his judicial performance and vision for reforms in the judiciary. Sharma responded to all questions in detail and presented his views on improving the justice system.
After his responses, Committee Chairperson Bhadra Narayan Shrestha allowed members to ask supplementary questions. However, no further questions were raised, and the chair formally concluded the hearing.
Sharma was recommended for the post by a majority decision of the Constitutional Council on May 7. A total of 16 complaints were registered against him in the committee.
At the beginning of the session, opposition lawmakers had protested, arguing that insufficient time had been given to properly review the complaints and that the process was being rushed.
