KATHMANDU, June 10: Ujyalo Nepal Party Chair Kulman Ghising has called for an investigation not only into the Narayanhiti Royal Palace massacre but also into the death of former UML leader Madan Bhandari.
Speaking at a program organised by the party in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Ghising welcomed newly appointed Home Minister Sudan Gurung’s commitment to investigate the royal palace massacre, saying the probe should involve both national and international experts.
21 years since the royal massacre
He also demanded that the truth behind Bhandari’s death be made public and called for an investigation into suspicions surrounding the death of former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.
Ghising said other unresolved cases, including the Nirmala Pant murder case, also require impartial investigation. He further urged the government to make public the Lal Commission report formed after the Tikapur incident.
“If the royal palace massacre is to be investigated, why only that case? The Madan Bhandari death case should also be investigated,” Ghising said. “Given allegations of the involvement of national and international power centers, international experts should also be included in the inquiry.”
