One arrested on charge of shooting and killing rhino at CNP

CHITWAN, Jan 25: Chitwan National Park (CNP) authorities have arrested one person on the charge of shooting and killing rhinos.


Among those arrested is Khesar Bahadur Bohora aka Tikaram Bohora of Rapti Municipality Ward-6 of East Chitwan. He has been arrested three years after allegedly killing a rhino.

According to CNP Information Officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, Bohora was arrested on January 23 from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-2. He was arrested on the charge of killing a rhino and severing its horn in the Amaltari area of Nawalparasi on September 17, 2019. On November 5, 2020, a rhino was killed after shooting in the CNP, and its horn was taken away.


Information officer Tiwari said that there are 24 other defendants along with Bohora in that incident. About 21 people including Bohora involved in the incident have been arrested and three others are absconding. He said that the arrested Bohora was submitted to the Chitwan District Court on Wednesday.
