DUBAI, March 1:  United Arab Emirates (AP) — Police in Oman say a bus crash has killed at least 18 people and injured 14 others in the sultanate.

Police made the announcement in a tweet Tuesday morning. They said the crash occurred on the Ibri-Fahud Road, without elaborating. Fahud and Ibri are cities west of the capital, Muscat, though it wasn't clear whether police meant the road linking the two cities.

A telephone number for an Oman police spokesman rang unanswered Tuesday.

There was no information about the crash on the state-run Oman News Agency, nor on the country's state broadcaster.

Oman is a country on the far east of the Arabian Peninsula whose neighbors include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
