BHAKTAPUR, June 2: The National Youth Council (NYC), in collaboration with the National Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (NFPPD), has successfully concluded a two-day workshop on “Digital Literacy, AI Readiness, and Responsible Digital Leadership” in Bhaktapur, the organizers said in a press release.
The workshop, held on May 16–17, was technically supported by Foundation for the Future (FFTF) and funded by UNFPA Nepal through the KOICA-funded SAFE-Girls project.
A total of 41 NYC officials and youth network representatives participated in the training, which focused on digital governance, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, online safety, and responsible digital leadership.

Experts from ICT, cybersecurity, education technology, communication, and digital rights facilitated eight interactive sessions. Resource persons included Subhash Dhakal, Shreejwol Disti, Prasanna Dhungel, Padam Raj Pant, Sudhamshu Dahal, and Santosh Sigdel.
A dedicated session on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) was conducted by UNFPA experts Abhiram Roy and Ji Sun Park, focusing on online safety, reporting mechanisms, gender digital divide, and protection of vulnerable groups. The same session also covered the NYC Digital Literacy Roadmap and institutionalization plan.
Participants were also engaged in group exercises to develop strategies for strengthening NYC’s digital systems, communication practices, and long-term digital institutional frameworks.
Organizers said the workshop helped strengthen participants’ understanding of digital governance, ethical AI use, cybersecurity, and misinformation management.
The program concluded with reflections, certificate distribution, and a commitment to promote digital literacy, AI readiness, and safe digital practices across youth institutions in Nepal.
