NRNs seek dual citizenship

KATHMANDU, Jan 1: A delegation of Nepalese Americas Council, Non-Resident Nepalis National Coordinating Council of USA, on Thursday handed over a memorandum to Nepal´s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gyan Chandra Acharya on behalf of Nepali community organizations, seeking dual citizenship for NRNs in the new constitution of Nepal.



The copies of memorandum were addressed to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Speaker Subas Nembang, Constitutional Committee Chairman Nilambar Acharya and Fundamental Rights Committee´s Chairman Binda Pande, a press release issued by the Mission office said Friday.



Acharya has said the memo would be promptly forwarded to the authorities concerned in Nepal through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.



The release added that in the meeting, matters related to the interest of Nepali diasporas in America, particularly in New York, were also discussed. Dr Binod Shah, Dr Tara Niraula, Indra Tamang, Bansalal Tamang, Sonam Lama and Pema Sherpa were in the delegation.
