KATHMANDU , Feb 23: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has demanded a stern act ion against Mahottari District Judges Purna Prasad Bastola and Prakash Dhungana.

"It is such a shame that persons who have to execute justice to others have been accused of sexual assault," NHRC Spokesperson Mohna Ansari added, "We demand stern action."The Supreme Court has already suspended Judges astola and Dhungana and have been recalled to Kathmandu. They have been accused of sexually harassing a woman after getting drunk at a local hotel in Bardibas.

Ansari also said that NHRC is closely monitoring the issue. "The action against the judges should be judged as a testimony in the future," she added.

On Sunday afternoon, Mahottari district court judge Bastola had tried to sexually harass a woman, an employee of a local cooperative. He grabbed her hand, used obscene language and tried to take her into a room.

The judge tried to flee the scene in a car (Ba 11 Cha 5894) after the woman shouted for help. But the locals apprehended him and handed him over to the police.

The police tried to cover up the matter after it was revealed that the accused was a district court judge.
