JANAKPURDHAM, Nov 14: In a new political turn in Madhesh Province, Deputy Speaker Babita Kumari Raut Ishwar has nullified Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal’s decision to remove five provincial assembly members from their positions. The Speaker had taken the decision after an impeachment motion was registered against him.
Speaker Mandal had announced the dismissal of the lawmakers, claiming they had been absent for ten consecutive assembly meetings.

Shortly after his decision, Deputy Speaker Raut issued a separate notice stating that since an impeachment motion had already been filed against the Speaker for “conduct incompatible with his position,” his post should be considered vacant.
“The decision appears to have been made in haste and in retaliation by the proposer, even before a discussion on the impeachment motion has been scheduled,” the notice stated.
Deputy Speaker Raut further clarified that attendance records and video footage from the latest assembly meeting showed that the lawmakers were not absent, thereby invalidating the Speaker’s move to dismiss them. She has notified all concerned of the cancellation of the Speaker’s decision.
