KATHMANDU, March 14: Good times, bad times, sad times, music’s always there to keep you company and in the past two weeks, there has been some awesome music releases which includes singles by LL Cool J, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Usher and some new lot of artists who are definitely worth listening to.

If the names caught your attention, read on to find out what the hype is all about! [break]

Rihanna – Where Have You Been

Rihanna’s been ruling the airwaves in Kathmandu and capturing the dance floors in the clubs recently and she’s not letting go of it anytime soon it seems. Right after the release of “Turn Up The Music”, a collaboration with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, she’s released her brand new song “Where Have You Been” off her album Talk That Talk and we bet it’s going to be one of the best selling albums of 2012.

This particular single sees RiRi’s attempt to find love again which happens to be the overall theme of the disc and also incline more towards techno. Either way, it’s good to the ears.

Katy Perry – Part of Me

The separation of Katy Perry and Russell Brand last year was probably one of the most publicized divorces. But then which celebrity divorce isn’t? The singer debuted her latest single “Part Of me” at the recent Grammy Award and the lyrics are pretty much targeted towards her ex.

The music and vocals is quite similar to her other singles but if you’re a hardcore Katy Perry fan, then no one’s going to stop you from liking this song.

LL Cool J featuring Ne-Yo - No More

LL Cool J is slowly and steadily coming back to the music scene and his tunes still sound familiar, much like his songs from the early 2000’s but it sounds fresh amongst all the electro, techno and house mixes flooding in. A feel good song is what “No More” is featuring the R&B sensation Ne-Yo.

Professionally, Cool J’s got it pretty good right now, while he has made his starring role in NCIS: Los Angeles his main focus, the rap veteran hosted the Grammys and still has the reputation to get hip hop heads’ attention when he decides to drop a new jam, for instance, his self proclaimed Greatest of All Time album.

Nicki Minah – Starships

It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long since Nicki Minaj debuted with her hit album “Pink Friday” and she is prepping for her second effort “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” which is scheduled to drop by this April.

This only proves that she’s unstoppable and here to stay. The disc is being led by the single “Starships” which is a potpourri of multiple genres ranging from Euro-dance, Euro-pop, reggae, pop rock, to hip hop.

Karmin – Broken Hearted

It’s always a pleasure listening to some promising new music by new bees and the American Pop duo, Karmin, is amongst the lot. The duo consisting of husband and wife Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan, who are best known for a number of covers, have a single out and this original track’s titled “Broken Hearted”, taken from their debut album “Hello”. Dance to the tunes and you can sing along too!

Auro Dione featuring Rock Mafia – Friends

A perfect song for this year’s Friendship Day (which is still months away) and all thanks to Auro Dione. The Danish singer and songwriter teams up with tween pop production duo Rock Mafia for the single that is simply titled “Friends”.

This is her second offering from her sophomore album “Before The Dinosaurs” which sees Dione experiment with R&B, dance floor beats and pop balladry.

Days Difference – Down With me

“Down With Me” might sound much like a song for the high school chaps, but it’s nothing like that. The group “Days Difference” consists of Jeremy and Jonathan Williams Smith and Micah and Jeremiah Ricks, and they hail from Virginia Beach in the US of A where they’ve been jamming together since May 2004. The quartet has opened up for the likes of Paramore, Lifehouse, Third Eye Blind among others.

Chris Rene – Young Homie

Chris Rene might not have a distinct voice and music because he sounds a little like Ne-Yo, Chris Brown and Lil’ Bow Wow but definitely worth listening to. US X Factor finalist, Rene has just sealed a deal with Epic Records, where he’ll be reunited with his X factor mentor Epic boss LA Reid. Of the new chapter in his music career, “Young Homie” is his latest release!

Dappy – Rockstar

A song that you will definitely fall in love with. “Rockstar” by a British singer-songwriter, rapper, and actor, Dappy, released his first single off his second album, “Dare To Dream”.

The singer has claimed that his album is “motivational” and for people who believe that they can’t do nothing, a battle we have our own mind. If that’s you or if you just like listening to some rock infused pop music, this is for you!
