KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has sought to restart the trading at the secondary market from Wednesday.

The secondary market operation remained closed since last Tuesday after the Gen Z led protest turned into massive violence, inflicting heavy losses in public and private properties. Issuing a public notice, the frontline regulator has informed that the stocks trading will not be carried out until September 18.

According to an official at the NEPSE, they sent a proposal to the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), seeking approval of the regulator to decide on the matter. The SEBON’s board meeting to be held on Tuesday is reported to take decision on whether or not to prolong the suspension of share transaction.

“There is a high chance that the secondary market will be reopened from Wednesday, however the official decision is yet to be made,” an official of the SEBON told Republica, under anonymity.
