Nepse falls 3.21 points, daily turnover decreases to Rs 2.333 billion on Monday

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday slid 3.21 points to close at 2,048.26 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,051.47 points and fell to the day’s low at 2,030.52 points in the first 45 minutes of the trading. The index escalated and hit the day’s high at 2,069.73 points in halfway of the trading hours, before it shed around 21 points to close for the day.


The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies declined 0.48 points. The daily turnover, too, decreased to Rs 2.333 billion from Rs 2.687 billion on Sunday.

Four of the 13 trading groups lost their market values. Banking, hydropower, ‘others’ and investment could not attract buyers. Of the nine gainers, six gained double digit points.  


Among individual companies, the market values of 100 companies declined. A total of 116 companies were recorded as gainers. 


Sanima Bank Limited had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 436.25 million, which was followed by Nepal Republic Media (NRM) with a transaction of Rs 82.51 million. Chhyangdi Hydropower Ltd was the biggest loser.


NRM gained the highest of 9.99 percent (27.50 points) in its market price and stood first in the row. The company also added notable gains in its first day trading of shares on Sunday.
