Nepal defeated Yemen 39-9 in the third place playoff on Monday. Ranju Rai scored 11 goals for the Nepali team. Nepal, which dominated both the halves, was ahead by 19-6 in the first half.[break]
Meanwhile, India thrashed Bangladesh 44-16 in the women´s final played at the Nepal Army Sports Complex, Lagankhel as Rimpi Bipi scored 10 goals and Maninder Kaur added nine goals.
Likewise, India defeated Pakistan 40-20 in the men´s final of the tournament, organized by Nepal Handball Association on the initiative of International Handball Federation (IHF). Sukhbir Singh scored 11 goals for India. Imran Khan was the highest scorer for Pakistan with 10 goals.
The winners and the runners-up of both the sections will get opportunity to participate in the Inter Continental Championship.
Yemen beat Afghanistan 41-35 in the men´s third place playoff on Monday. Mohammad Sabir scored 10 goals for Afghanistan but could not stop Yemen from winning the match as Nawaf Mohammad and Hamjah Farman scored nine goals each.
Rimpi Bipi and Samsher Singh of India were adjudged the best players of the tournament. Bipi also received the award for the highest scorer in the women´s section with 34 goals while Nawaf Mohammad of Yemen, who scored 37 goals in the tournament, received the highest scorer award in the men´s section. Nepali women´s team and Afghanistan men´s team bagged the fair play awards.
