Nepali toddler killed by car in Australia

KATHMANDU, April 7: A 17-month-old toddler was killed when he was hit by a car in Australia on Thursday morning.

Shreyan Thapa was struck by a car on Marion St Thursday morning in collision with Toyota Sedan which left him with fatal head injuries, Daily Mail reported. The toddler was walking on the footpath with his great-grandmother as Shreyan's mother Rojita studied for an English exam, the site further added.

Rojita arrived the scene in a short time after the crash. The toddler was rushed to The Children's Hospital at Westmead where he breathed his last. The grandmother has some minor injuries.

A witness said the boy, who was wearing a backpack, pulled free from his great-grandmother's hand and ran onto the road near the intersection with Queen Street, Sydney Morning Herald added.
