Nyaupane’s identity was confirmed after his driving license was recovered from the attack site. Following the identification, the Rupandehi District Administration Office and the District Police Office have initiated further procedures.
Reports suggest Neupane was shot dead during the attack. He had traveled to Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday with his mother, sister and brother-in-law for a family trip.
Pahalgam, often referred to as the "Mini Switzerland," lies about 90 kilometers from Srinagar and is a well-known destination among tourists. Officials said rescue efforts were challenging due to the difficult terrain, accessible only by foot or horse.
A little-known militant group, The Resistance Front, has reportedly claimed responsibility for the massacre.
Following the attack, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, returned to India. Authorities have described the incident as the most devastating assault on civilians in recent years.
