Nepali filmmakers happy with foreign movie ban

KATHMANDU, Oct. 10: Chairman of the People´s Cultural Confederation Ishwor Chandra Gyawali said Nepali cine artists and producers are enthusiastic by the move of banning of the screening of foreign movies in Nepali Cinema Halls.



The CPN-Maoist has banned the screening of foreign films in Nepali land for ten days until October 10.



Talking to RSS, Gyawali said the move has left positive effect among the audience and it received the support of one and all. He added that around a dozen Nepali movies that were waiting for their turn got opportunity for early screening in the theatres.



Gyawali also said they are also preparing to ban playing of foreign music and songs in public places.



Similarly, Chairman of Nepal Film Producers´ Association Raj Kumar Rai said the Association has expressed its solidarity over the move stressing that the Nepali film sector needs protection for some time.
