The tournament will feature eight teams, including host Nepal, UAE, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Oman, Kuwait, Maldives and top two teams of the ACC Trophy Challenge 2012.[break]
This would be the first international tournament in Nepal since the change in leadership at the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Nepal had hosted the last edition of the tournament in Kathmandu in December, 2011. The tournament will be the eighth major international event hosted by Nepal.
According to CAN sources, Nepal has requested the ACC to publish the fixture of event before ICC World Cricket League Division 3 which is to be held in Bermuda from April 28 to May 5.
Afghanistan is the defending champion of the event that defeated Hong Kong in the final of the last edition in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, ACC also confirmed dates and hosts for three different events to be held in 2013. Kuwait has got the hosting rights of ACC Twenty20 Women´s Cup to be held from January 21 to Feb 2. Malaysia will host ACC U-19 Elite Cup from May 1-12 to be participated by Nepal, Afghanistan, Qatar, Hong Kong, UAE, Bahrain, Malaysia, Thailand, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Singapore will feature ACC Emerging Teams Cup from August 15 to 26 that will see the participation of eight teams including four U-23 teams of test nations -- India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Nepal, UAE and Afghanistan will compete in the capacity of top three teams of ACC Trophy Elite while Singapore has got the chance to host the event.
Nepal will also compete in ICC World Cricket League Division 3 along with host Bermuda, Italy, Oman, USA and Uganda.
