KATHMANDU, Aug 10: The executive committee meeting of the internationally recognized Nepal Olympic Committee has decided to hold its election on September 3.

According to Jeevan Ram Shrestha, the general secretary of NOC, a meeting held on Sunday under the presence of all 26 affiliated members of the NOC took the decision.

"We have decided to hold the elective general assembly on September 3 as per the decision of the annual general assembly held on Thursday," Shrestha said.

NOC was scheduled to host the elective general assembly on August 6. However, NOC was forced to postpone the elective general assembly and convert it to annual general assembly after allegations of violating provision of its own statute in course of election and of controversially selecting the representatives (voters) from some associations.

The upcoming election shall choose the NOC leadership for the next four years.

The protest of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) among 26-member associations of NOC became the decisive factor in postponing the election. NOC leadership has admitted that if failed to inform ANFA about the election date on time in accordance to its own statute.
