Nepal defeat Netherlands by 16 runs

KATHMANDU, June 11: Nepal defeated the Netherlands by 16 runs in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-nation ODI series on Tuesday, marking their second consecutive win against the Dutch side.


In the match held at the Forthill Cricket Ground in Dundee, Scotland, Nepal defended their total of 236 runs, bowling out the Netherlands for 220 in 49.2 overs.

Nandan Yadav and Sandeep Lamichhane led Nepal’s bowling attack, taking three wickets each. Lalit Rajbanshi claimed two wickets, while Karan KC and Kushal Bhurtel took one each.


For the Netherlands, Wesley Barresi scored the highest with 36 runs, followed by Scott Edwards (30), Michael Levitt (27), Kayle Klein (25), Noah Croes (22), Teja Nidamanuru (17), and Roelof van der Merwe (16).


Earlier, the Nepalis were put to bat first after losing the toss and posted 236 for 9 in 50 overs. Arif Sheikh top-scored with 84 runs off 85 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Bhim Sharki and Captain Rohit Paudel each contributed 35 runs. Kushal Bhurtel added 18, Dipendra Singh Airee 16, and both Basir Ahmed and Karan KC made 11 each. Nandan Yadav chipped in with 10, while Lamichhane scored 2.


For the Netherlands, Paul van Meekeren took four wickets, Michael Levitt grabbed three, and Aryan Dutt claimed one.
