Nepal can drag India to tribunal for blockade: Int’l law expert Subedi

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: International law expert and professor of International Law at University of Leeds Surya Subedi has opined that Nepal can file a complaint against Indian blockade at tribunal of Law of Sea Treaty in Hamburg, Germany with proofs.

According to him, the government at first needs to formulate an official views on the blockade and then appeal the international community with an overview paper.  

In an interview with Nagariknews, Subedi said the tribunal can issue interim order against the blockade if the government succeeds to convince that life of citizen have been hit-hard owing to the blockade.

“India will be forced to follow the order as it is the signatory nation of the 1982 treaty,” he said.
