Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce Lalmani Joshi told RSS that the issues on bilateral trade expansion and facilitations would be discussed during the two-day meeting.[break]
Joshi said, "Discussions will hold to allow some goods without customs tax in the markets of both countries." Attempts would be made to resolve some problems seen in Panitanki-Kakadbhitta and Phulari-Banglabandha routes and intensive discussions on use of Rohanpur-Singhabad route are also in the list for discussion, Joshi added.
So far, Phulari-Banglabandha and Kakadbhitta- Phulari-Banglabandha routes are in use for goods transportation between Nepal and Bangladesh.
Chatgaon-Mongla Port has not been used as yet though the government of Bangladesh provided this port for the international trade.
Pulse, cardamom, wheat and noodles including vegetable seeds are Nepal´s major export item to Bangladesh while Nepal imports industrial raw materials, thread, electrical equipments from Bangladesh. A seven-member team from Bangladesh is arriving here on Saturday for the talks.
