KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to field lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada as its candidate for the chairperson of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire confirmed that Khatiwada will be the party’s nominee. The position became vacant after Ishwori Devi Neupane resigned as chair of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee on August 26.

The election for the committee chair has been scheduled for Friday, with nominations open today between 2 pm and 4 pm.
Khatiwada had earlier resigned as chair of the State Affairs Committee following the controversy surrounding the “cooling-off period” provision in the Civil Service Bill. Neupane, who previously served as chair of the Hearing Committee, was later appointed to lead the State Affairs Committee. Khatiwada is now being nominated to fill her former position.
