NC leader Sitaula urges India not to impose blockade

BIRATNAGAR, Nov 10: Nepali Congress General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula has urged India not to impose the border blockade as it has adversely affected daily life of the people.

At a press meet in Biratnagar on Tuesday, leader Sitaula called on all to come in front and not let the centuries old bilateral relations with India to be soured. He added that the provision of getting citizenship was made more systematic and simplified in the new constitution.Leader Sitaula said that the Tarai problem could be resolved through parliament and Madhes-based parties coming in parliament was a positive step.

He said that his party would take initiatives to get the two bills forwarded by the previous government passed in parliament. He termed the constitution as a dynamic document and any dissatisfaction over it could be addressed through amendment, he added.

In response to the query of journalists as to why NC did not participate in the government dialogue team formed to hold talks with protesting parties, Sitaula said that the government dialogue team is always comprises the ruling parties representatives and not the opposition party.

He clarified that NC would play the role of a constructive opposition. In another context, leader Sitaula informed that the party was making preparations for its upcoming national congress. RSS
