Pedestrians and vehicles have been facing lots of hassles as the road around the Bhrikuti Mandap, where the convention is under way, remains crowded.
On Friday, Bikash Bhandari, 25, a student at the nearby Tri-Chandra Campus, complained how the convention affected his day.
"I was really annoyed when the crowd prevented me from reaching my college on time. Every time I try to break out of the crowd, people carrying pamphlets and NC flags got in my way so I missed the class," he said.
"Though the convention is important, students like us who are not participating in it or are not affiliated to any political party are facing troubles. The party should properly manage its crowd so that the public does not have to face inconveniences," he added.
Another pedestrian, Laxmi Sharma, 55, shared a similar experience. "I was stuck in the crowd for over 30 minutes. I was heading for an ATM kiosk, but the NC supporters' crowd got on my way." Party members participating in the conventions were themselves blocking the roads on Friday. The Exhibition Road was closed for vehicles.
Although police personnel were trying to manage the crowd, it was not very effective.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Lokendra Malla, who is also the spokesperson of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Department (MTPD) informed that they have been managing parking space for vehicles to minimize traffic problems. "We are ensuring that the vehicles are parked at the right places. So far, managing road traffic has not been much problematic," he added.
