NC, civil society demand probe

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: A delegation of Nepali Congress parliamentarians led by party general secretary Bimalendra Nidhi on Tuesday met Speaker Subas Nembang demanding investigation into the controversial tape conversation between UCPN (Maoist) leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara and an unknown “Chinese national”.



According to NC lawmaker Nabindra Raj Joshi, a meeting of the parliamentary party working committee of the party took the decision to this effect. Earlier, some civil society member had also drawn attention of the speaker on the issue and submitted a memorandum demanding investigation into the matter.



The NC parliamentarians stating that the issue falls under the purview of parliament and is directly related to the ongoing prime ministerial election demanded that the speaker form a probe committee to look into the matter. CA Chairman Nembang has assured them investigation would be launched into the matter.
