National Vitamin A programme from March 3

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: The Nationwide Vitamin 'A' campaign held every year in the second week of April is being held in early March this year.

The Vitamin 'A' programme is being preponed to March as the government is carrying out a micronutrient survey from the second week of March. As a result, the administering of Vitamin 'A' capsules and deworming tablets to children will take place on coming March 3 and 4, according to Chief of the Child Health Division, Nutrition Unit Giri Raj Subedi.The micronutrient survey in children is taking place in the country after a span of 18 years, that will reveal the state of iodine, iron, calcium, protein etc in the children, Survey Coordinator Dr Rajindra BC said.
