NAWALPARASI, May 2: Floodwaters from the Biyeni stream washed away a diversion at Dumkibas on Thursday morning, completely blocking the Narayanghat-Butwal section of the East-West Highway.
The District Police Office confirmed that the diversion, which had been constructed to allow traffic after the original bridge collapsed, could not withstand the flood.

Information Officer Madhu Nepal said the diversion was swept away, forcing authorities to halt cargo and large vehicles at Hongsi Gate and Arun Khola.
Officials have rerouted passengers and smaller vehicles through alternative roads. Nepal added that it will take time to fully reopen the obstructed highway.
