KATHMANDU, Oct 31: The Managing Director of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) will now be selected through an open competition.
A committee has been formed under the coordination of Tourism Ministry Secretary Hari Prasad Mainali to shortlist and recommend eligible candidates through the open selection process.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki, in her capacity as the departmental minister, approved the committee’s formation on Friday. Captain Kul Bahadur Limbu has been appointed as the expert member, while the head of the ministry’s Planning and Administration Division will act as the member secretary of the committee.

The committee has been given a one-month deadline to select and recommend qualified candidates through the open competition.
Until a new Managing Director is appointed through this process, the senior-most employee of the NAC Deputy General Manager Janak Raj Kalakheti has been assigned as acting Managing Director.
Similarly, until further arrangements are made, the Vice President, Bikram Rai, will serve as acting Chairperson of the corporation’s Board of Directors, the ministry spokesperson Ram Krishna Lamichhane said.
