“As the disease is spreading fast, there is an acute shortage of health workers in the remote VDCs,” said Roop Singh Malla, an official at the District Health Office. Thirteen people have already lost their lives to diarrhea.
However, Nepal Army teams have been leaving no stone unturned to contain the spread of the disease.
“We have been trying to reach out to the people in the remote settlements of the district,” said Sanu Kaji Thapa, lieutenant colonel at Doti Bhairav Gan. “We are also trying our best to spread awareness about the disease,” added Thapa. Nepal Army team has been providing treatment to diarrhea patients in Khatiwada, Khirsauna, Sana Gau and villages of Kathmandu VDCs.
The Nepal Army team has also been distributing soaps and medicines to diarrhea affected patients.
“Now we know that drinking water should be boiled. Villagers have been suffering from diarrhea as they lack awareness about the disease,” said Dhan Bahadur Dhanuk of Kathmandu-6.
